LCD Projectors

DLP Projectors
When you make the decision to spend $1,000 on a DLP home theater projector, you want to make sure you're getting the best and most for your money. A variety of DLP projectors are available thru Focused Technology. There are several DLP projector models and brands. A high-end DLP projector will blow any LCD projector out of the water in terms of video quality. DLP projectors typically have higher contrast ratios, meaning they project better video. They are portable, smaller, and lighter than LCD projectors and connect easily to other digital devices. DLP projectors are also lighter in weight than LCD projectors.

  • Smoother video

  • Pixels far less visible
  • More “Movie like” on DVD and HDTV
  • Typically offer deeper blacks and higher contrast

Projection Screens
A good projector screen is necessary for the best viewing. The four basic options available are:

  • Portable Projector Screens: Also called tripod projector screens. An inexpensive choice. Portable projector screens are great if you plan on taking your projector on a business trip, to a friend’s house, or just move it from room to room in your house. Tripod projector screens are a type of portable screen which are easy to transport and are cheap.
  • Manual Pull Down Projector Screens: Most economical choice, requires the screen to be manually pulled to display the viewing surface.
  • Home Theater Screen: This projector screen looks like a flat-panel television without any electronics; it's light and can be mounted on almost any wall. Fixed frame projector screens are highly recommended for dedicated home theater rooms. A fixed frame projector screen is permanently tensioned and gives a flat viewing surface installed in a fixed location.
  • Electric Projection Screens: Most elegant and expensive style of screen. Can be used with an infrared remote control to raise and lower the screen. A custom casing can conceal the projector screen.
Projector Lamps and Bulbs
Projector lamps, also known as projector light bulbs or projector bulbs, are one of the few replaceable projector parts. There are several different projector lamp technologies that offer a variety of wattages. Be sure your projector light bulb matches the one you are replacing as each projector is designed to use a specific type of lamp and has specific watts. Always consult your User's Manual for information on replacing the lamp.

How will you know when it is time to replace your lamp? The screen will lose its brightness and appear or become dim. You won’t necessarily have to replace the lamp when you notice the dimming. Some wait until the bitter end to install a new lamp while others will have one in reserve waiting for the screen to dim or the bulb to go out. Projector Lamps should be treated as hazardous waste and disposed of accordingly.
